79:9 Help us, O God, our deliverer!

For the sake of your glorious reputation, ¹  rescue us!

Forgive our sins for the sake of your reputation! ²

A psalm of David.

143:1 O Lord, hear my prayer!

Pay attention to my plea for help!

Because of your faithfulness and justice, answer me!

[79:9]  ¹ tn Heb “the glory of your name.” Here and in the following line “name” stands metonymically for God’s reputation.

[79:9]  ² tn Heb “your name.”

[143:1]  ³ sn Psalm 143. As in the previous psalm, the psalmist laments his persecuted state and asks the Lord to deliver him from his enemies.
